Isabelle Tollenaere
Isabelle Tollenaere, born 1984 in Ghent, lives and works in Antwerp, Belgium. She studied documentary filmmaking at Sint-Lukas Brussels University College of Art and Design. Her graduation film Stil Leven/Still Life (2007) was the winner of the Belgian competition at the Courtisane Festival in 2008, where she won again in 2010 with Trickland, her first film after graduating. Her work has been shown at international film festivals such as IDFA, CPH:DOX, FID Marseille, Kasseler Dokfest, EMAF, Hors Pistes, Brussels Short Film Festival, Underdox, Zinebi, Documentary & Short Film Festival Bilbao. Currently she is working on her first feature length documentary film called Journey into Noblivion, produced by Michigan Films.

Carthage, a suburb of Tunis, in March 2011, in the centre of the Arab Spring battlefield: a luxury hotel. Empty beach, empty pool, empty lobby. Everywhere deserted. Just two or three older tourists stayed on during the fighting. Or came back afterwards. Looking at them you wouldn’t guess. They are lying in the sun. As usual. Table tennis. Bar. Nightclub. The dancers come on stage in uniform, and outside a revolutionary graffito says thanks to Facebook. Sunshine, health and fitness, entertainment, internet, revolution, entertainment, health and fitness, sunshine.
